11/7にSEASON OF MISTから新作 “Ⅳ- ONE WITH THE STORM” を発売する GHOST BRIGADE。彼らの新曲 “ELECTRA COMPLEX” を世界初公開です！！
フィンランドの異端児、開拓者、そんな表現がしっくりくるバンドではないでしょうか。自らのFBページで”ジャンルレス”と宣言するその音楽性は確かにジャンル分け不能。同郷の INSOMNIUM を髣髴とさせる現代的で知的なメロディックデスメタルから OPETH ライクなプログレッシブさ。それに加えてMASTODON 的スラッジやCULT OF LUNA 的ポストメタルの影響も感じさせ、特筆すべきは TOOL のようなUSオルタナの雰囲気すら味付けに使っている点です。そういった要素を全て淀みなく融合させた前作 “UNTIL FEAR NO LONGER DEFINES US” は完成度の高い紛う事なき傑作でした。
それから3年、当然ながら期待高まる彼らの新作ですが間違いないでしょう！ELECTRA COMPLEX。この曲名を最初に聞いた時は確実に”勃起不全”だと思いましたが違います。”女児が父親に対して強い独占欲的な愛情を抱き、母親に対して強い対抗意識を燃やす状態を指す”そう。ユングがギリシャ神話になぞらえてそう呼び始めたんだとか。電子音を大胆に導入しながら静かに、メランコリックに幕を開け、募る感情を徐々に爆発させて行くように激しさを増すこの10分34秒はまさにそのテーマとシンクロしています。奇しくも11/7は先日10分の大曲を公開させて頂いた NE OBLIVISCARIS の新譜と同じ発売日です。これからのメタルシーンを牽引して行くであろうこの2バンドが同じ日に同じような長さの素晴らしい長尺曲を擁してアルバムをリリースする・・・これは何かの運命かもしれませんね。

This time there was an existing chemistry, we had not only the prior experiences of making the debut album but also the 2012 tour as well.”

バンドの中心人物KILLJOYさんです。どう見ても完全にヤバイ人ですね。ちょっといろいろとキビシイです。ただ過去にはPANTERAのフィル（ギターで）とかSIGHの川嶋さん（キーボードで）も参加していただけあってカッコいいです。リフ！リフ！リフ！で押し切る音楽性とB級ホラー映画的イメージがよくマッチしていますね。彼らのFBページとSEASON OF MISTさんのFBページです。
‘Comfort’ referers to a german philosopher named Walter Benjamin and his work on the ‘destructive character’. its about the fact that some people actually find peace and comfort in destroying things. its described as a special form of catharsis. here are the lyrics to get more into it:

I’ve always loved Japanese music, especially mathrock…
Nah seriously, Japan has the BEST mathrock bands in the world haha, TOE, Lite, Mouse on the keys…
So that song is my humble tribute to them, and especially to Ryuichi Sakamoto and TOE.
Pentatonic scales, fun drums grooves, acoustic guitar, and in the middle of the song, an intense groove between all those elements.
The tittle, “Keirô no Hi”, is as you probably know, a Japanese holiday celebrated annually to honor elderly citizens, and this year I think it was on the 15th of september, which was the first date plan of album release… Also, as my grandmother died recently, so I decided to dedicated that song in particular to her.
Anyway, this is one of the most “authentic” track of the album, because of the multiple LIVE instruments recorded (by yours truly), hope you enjoy… By Clement Belio

Well, I really want to come to Japan and see all of this at least one time in my life.

“Hello entire Japanese population! Or some nutcase metalheads in it. We are Schizoid Lloyd, six lads from The Netherlands, we make progressive experimental avant-garde rock/metal and we have a crazy new song for you called “Suicide Penguin”, which is the first track of our upcoming debut album “The Last Note In God’s Magnum Opus”, and you should most definitely give it a listen! You might end up with a song you like! Which is always a good thing. The song is not actually about a penguin with suicidal thoughts, or, maybe it is, but metaphorically speaking the suicide penguin symbolises a fatal urge or desire. You should youtube that penguin and you’ll know what I mean. Then there is this stuff going on with reincarnation, love, fear of abandonment, existential loneliness, getting tricked by the devil, gangnam style, and magic mountains, but I’m not going into that or I’ll maybe ruin all potential interpretations that differ from my own, which is already very abstract and vague. The best thing you should do is just listen to the music, enjoy it, or not, then listen to it again, and enjoy it some more, or not, repeat ad nauseum. Thanks a lot!”

The freakish debut album by Schizoid Lloyd – a Dutch progressive metal unit whose incredible musical hodgepodge of interests shine through within moments of the 57-minute release – effortlessly hopping from Queen-fueled vocal harmonies to Mr. Bungle lounging to Leprous progression to short outbursts of lunar insanity and even a dash of singer-songwriter sensitivity and white boy rap (when required). New Born, the debut album from Moscow’s Sounds of Sputnik, is a kaleidoscope of reverb-soaked guitar, calculated drums, thick bass, and angular guitars intertwined with ethereal vocals. This is extraordinary noise-pop, with layered harmonies, interlacing synth and distorted guitars. Sounds of Sputnik paired up with Canadian-Ukrainian duo Ummagma to co-write, produce, and record this album, to be released on UK label Ear to Ear Records. Ummagma’s Shauna McLarnon and Alexx Kretov both contribute solid warming vocals.

Rewind about 12 years ago. Roman, Shauna and Alexx were collaborating a bit until Shauna and Alexx left Russia. This release is a timely show of beauty in the face of the current ugly situation occurring between Ukraine and Russia.
