As mentioned above, I loved certain metal songs that relied heavily on the use of the &#8220;Egypt scale,&#8221; so I was very eager to listen to Nile once I learned they were an egytian themed death metal band. And while I appreciate their dedication to that stylistic theme throughout their duscography, it&#8217;s not something I&#8217;m going to continously do on future albums. Honestly, the egyptian theme throughout our album was mostly unintentional, and is rooted in underlying subconscious influence. I had heard a lot of talk about this band, how they would contrast death metal with acoustic music, but Isolation Years caught me off guard by how beautifully it was arranged and composed. So I decided to check out Timeghoul, as many people said they were the precursor to Blood Incantation, and I was pleasantly surprised. I can definitely see where Blood Incantation drew some influence, but Timeghoul&#8217;s music is a lot more unique than I think many people realize. For example, the abundance of three point harmonies on the second demo, or even instances (like the intro to Boiling in the Hourglass) where the three guitarists are all playing different things.
