I think the two catalysts have been John Bonham and Ian Paice.<br \/>\nHaving said that, my inspiration in other drummers has always been rooted in the musical context: I never cared much about insane drum solos. What is the meaning behind the band name?<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">\u3010GABRI (Guitar)\u3011: <\/span><\/strong><\/span><em> Everything began in early 2018. I was in the process of parting ways with my previous band when Enrico (guitar) and I decided to start a new project. It took us nearly a year to find the rest of the band members. The first to join was Alberto, who had been playing in another project with a mutual friend of mine.<br \/>\nSoon after, Alessandro (drummer) became the fourth member. I still remember seeing him perform a pop song in a metalcore version, it was hilarious!<br \/>\nBut what really struck me was his playing style. I was immediately drawn to it and knew he had to be part of the band.<br \/>\nGabri (vocals) was the last to join. We were already friends, and during the summer of 2018, we went on an amazing trip through southern Italy. One day, while we were relaxing, he began improvising vocals over \u201cBack and Forth,\u201d which was probably the first track I ever composed for Benthos. I loved his approach, and from that moment, our lineup was complete, we became Benthos.<br \/>\nAs for the name, \u201cBenthos\u201d refers to the community of organisms living in close contact with the seabed. Metaphorically, it represents our inner essence, our emotions, buried deep below, that we strive to bring to the surface. But I\u2019ll try to keep it short.<br \/>\nI don\u2019t know if the Grammy could be used as an indicator of what the audience actually cares about (just think about the year in which Macklemore won Best Hip-hop Album against Kendrick Lamar, and it was the year when To Pimp a Butterfly dropped!), but maybe on this occasion it can be useful.<br \/>\nIn the past, this kind of music was also appreciated by the mainstream (great prog bands like Genesis, Yes, Rush and King Crimson are known to a lot of boomers). During the 2000s and after, though, the mainstream started to become very dry and predictable. I think that what\u2019s happening right now is not linked with the consumerism and short content problem, but with a desire to search for something else outside the mainstream.
