palatino, serif;\">\u3010ALEX\u3011: <\/span><\/strong><\/span><em>My first musical love was the Beatles. I stumbled across them when i was 8 or 9 because the movie Yellow Submarine was playing on TV. My mother used to work at a Radio Station so she was able to burn all of their albums for me. Felix and Pauls Dad is also a huge Beatles Fan, so I&#8217;m pretty sure they we&#8217;re also in touch with their music from an early age on. He always points out how The Beatles originated a lot of musical trends to come. I also vividly remember listening to a bunch of Jamiroquai records in the car, since my dad is a huge fan. Later i moved on to Rockbands, like Green Day. Felix and Paul also had their Rock phases from what i can recount and we&#8217;re also big on classic Metalcore. When i joined the Band Parkway Drive and August Burns Red were Bands that came up a lot with them. Raoul our bassist is a big classic prog guy. All of us (except for Raoul really) got into Metalcore in our Teens and early Twenties so we wanted to play Metalcore music. We we&#8217;re never big on tech-death or the more classic German metal stuff to be quite honest. I personally only got into Tech-Death a little bit after joining vianova (as a listener) because of my Friend Tom Fountainhead Geldschl\u00e4ger who is a important figure in the german tech-death scene. Of course, there are metal bands that have introduced funk, jazz, and synthwave, but none of them have such &#8220;real&#8221; and large outside influences as you do, would you agree?<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">\u3010ALEX\u3011: <\/span><\/strong><\/span><em> I guess i wouldn&#8217;t agree to comparing ourself with other bands on this aspect because i wouldn&#8217;t want to make this a competition of who&#8217;s doing it best, because that just comes down to taste really. With Hit It! We tried to make the fusion feel a bit more natural and seemless if possible, even though there are some parts where the transitions do feel very drastic. If you think our influences seem real maybe you or other people can just sense that there is a genuine appreciation and excitement for the genres we are incorporating. I&#8217;d argue that bands like Twelve Foot Ninja (which we get compared to often) also deeply understand and love the non metal music they are incorporating but maybe it felt a bit more disconnected because with their songs the different elements we&#8217;re more seperate across the composition, like oil and water, in my memory.<br \/>\nYou could also argue that our genre fusion is inherently inauthentic because funk, soul and jazz are rooted in african american culture and quite honestly we are german metalcore kids that also happen to love all kinds of music. So as much as we love the music, there is an obvious cultural disconnect there. I think it&#8217;s a sign of the times and globalization since Europe is very Americanized in terms of music and media. Ultimately i hope we are doing our influences justice and paying our respects. I personally have seen a lot of upcoming bands use tiktok and instagram to market themselves and this isn&#8217;t really that new, if you consider that a lot of metalcore bands like bring me the horizon or suicide silence got big on myspace back in the day. Honestly i feel like they are tools and if they are compatible or not depends on how you want to use them. For me it felt empowering to a degree, because handling our promo ourselves ment i was not dependant on other people from outside the band doing a good job, since i had some bad experiences in the past with that.
