ITALIAN RISING STAR !! TECHNICAL, POWERFUL, AND CHAOTIC !! INTELLIGENCE MODERN METAL BAND DESTAGE ARE GONNA COMING TO JAPAN ON 2015 AGAIN !!
ボーニョボーニョボニョザガナノゴ～～で図らずも自らの狂信的ジブリ愛、日本愛を世の中に広く知らしめる事に成功したイタリアン・ライジングスター、DESTRAGE。DISARMONIA MUNDI の奇才 ETTORE RIGOTTI の肝入りで製作した 2nd アルバム “王様はデブで老いぼれである” のイカレっぷりが各所で好評を博し、あれよあれよという間にメタル界の大御所 METAL BLADE と契約を結んでしまいました。今年そこから発表した彼らの最新作 “ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO.” は弊サイトのリーダーズポールにランクされたように実に素晴らしい彼らの最高傑作となりました。確かにアルバムタイトルや曲名に象徴されるように彼らのイカレた部分は非常に魅力的なのですがこのアルバムでは良い意味で成熟し、荒削りだった部分が改善されています。とは言え SIKTH, PROTEST THE HERO, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME などをさらに闇鍋化させたようなその INSANE なサウンドは十二分に健在。昨今のバンドたちよりギターヒーロー的なプレイを連発するギターチームも最高にクールですね。二度目の来日も決まったようで止まるところを知らない彼らの快進撃。ボーカルの PAOLO に話が聞けました。
【ABOUT DESTRAGE】
Q1: Japan Tour on 2015 !! It will be your second coming !! How do you feel about that?
【PAOLO】: We’re stoked! we can’t wait to come back in your beautiful country! it will be awesome.
Q1: 来年日本ツアーが決まったようですね！！どんなお気持ちですか？
【PAOLO】: 超嬉しいよ！君達の美しい国にまた行くのが待ちきれないね！最高だろうね。
Q2: In 2014, You got major distribution, and released your 3rd album “Are you kidding me? no.” It looks everything be all right. How was this year for you?
【PAOLO】: As you said, all right! we’re are supporting this new album touring as much as we can. So far, everything seems to goes in the right way. We hope to do it much better also in 2015! Obviously starting from Japan 🙂
Q2: 2014 年はメジャーの METAL BLADE と契約を果たし 3rd アルバム “Are you kidding me? no.” をリリースしましたね。全てが順調に見えます。
【PAOLO】: そうだね、順調だよ！この新作に伴うツアーを出来るだけやっているんだ。今のところ、全てが正しい方向に向かっているように思うよ。2015 年はさらに良い年にしたいね！そしてそれは日本から始まるんだ。
Q3: Do you have any plans for new album?
【PAOLO】: during 2015 we planned to write also some new shit 😉
Q3: 新作の予定はありますか？
【PAOLO】: 2015 年の間には何か新しいものを書こうと思っているよ。

Q1: “Are you kidding me? no.” was ranked 14th on our Readers Poll !! I think it was great because it was chosen by lots of Japanese readers. Not only me. How do you feel about that?
【PAOLO】: we feel so honored. Japan was actually the first country who gave us a chance and show us some love and support. We’ll never forget this, and you feedback will be always important for us.
Q1: “ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO.” は弊サイトのリーダーズポールで14位にランクされました。日本のファンから選ばれた事についてどう思いますか？
【PAOLO】: とても光栄に感じているよ。実際、日本は僕達にチャンスをくれて愛とサポートを見せてくれた最初の国なんだ。この事は決して忘れないし、君達のフィードバックはいつも大事なんだよ。
Q2: Anyway, I think sense of humor is one of your identity. And I love that. Also, Some said ” DESTRAGE become a little bit more serious on “Are you kidding me? no. And it’s good”. What do you think about that? What’s the difference between your 2nd album and 3rd album?
【PAOLO】: ahahah it’s because we growth :)We believe that our evolution as musicians and composers fully reflects our personal growth in real life. You gotta experience something before you can say something; that’s the main reason why we are always evolving, and we’ll always be. So, expect something really different from the albums to come… few years passed, so we were more close-knit as a team, and above all, our music influences had really changed in the meanwhile, as well as we grew up as persons.
Q2: 不思議なユーモアのセンスもあなた達の特徴だと思います。ただ「新作では少しだけ真面目になった。そこが良い。」という意見もありますね。
【PAOLO】: アハハハ、それは僕らが成長したからだよ(笑)。ミュージシャン、作曲家としての進化は実生活での成長が全て反映されると信じているからね。｢何かを言う前に経験せよ｣：それが僕達が常に進化している主な理由だしこれからもそうあろうと思っているよ。だから何年か後には本当に違う感じのアルバムを出していたいね。チームとしてもより熟成されているだろうし。結局、僕達の音楽的影響は人としての成長に連れて本当に移り変わっているんだからね。
Q3: There are no other bands like you. Destrage mixes lots of musical aspects. I remind only one band “SikTh” from you. Would you tell us your musical upbringing?
【PAOLO】: Thank you for your nice words 🙂 We have 5 completely different backgrounds. Destrage influences goes from fusion music through math-core to electronic music so it would be really impossible to list them all, also is impossible to predict where Destrage style is going. But Destrage have an attitude, we’re open, we don’t like to have any kind of limits and these are the most important things that link every member of this band.
Q3: DESTRAGE のようなバンドは他にありませんよね。様々な要素をミックスしています。音楽的バックグラウンドを教えて下さい。
【PAOLO】: ありがとう。僕達は5つの全く異なったバックグラウンドを持っているんだ。DESTRAGE はフュージョンからマスコア、エレクトロニカまで影響を受けているから全てをリストアップするのはまず不可能だろう。同時に DESTRAGE のスタイルがどうなっていくのかも予測する事は不可能だね。ただ、オープンでいよう、どんなリミットも設けないようにしようというアティトゥードが DESTRAGE だしそれこそがバンド内で最も重要な共通理解なんだ。
Q4: Mattius “IA” Ekulndh and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal join your albums. I Interviewed Mattius the other day, I think you three have musical point in common. Is that the reason to their joining?
【PAOLO】: ahaha yeah probably that is! Mathias, Ron and Mat have pretty much the same attitude in my opinion. That’s why these two guest sounded so good on our tracks! 🙂 Ron, like Mathias, is one of Mat’s favourite guitarists of all time. So he wrote him an e-mail with a youtube link for a Destrage video, asking him a guest solo on our new album. Bumblefoot really got into our music and answered yes! He was on tour with Guns’N’Roses at that time and he asked us to wait till the end of the tour. When he was back home he recorded this amazing solo and sent it over. I perfectly remember the moment I heard it for the very first time, I was completely stoked.
Q4: MATTIAS “IA” EKULNDH と RON “BUMBLEFOOT” THAL というギターヒーローがあなた達のアルバムには参加してきました。MATTIAS には先日インタビューしたのですが音楽的にこの3者には共通点がありそうですね。
【PAOLO】: アハハ、うん、もしかしたらそうかもね！MATTIAS, RON, MAT はとても似たアティトゥードを持っていると思う。だからゲスト2人のサウンドは僕達の曲にとても合っていたんだろうね。RON も MATTIAS のように MAT の ATFG (オールタイムフェイバリットギタリスト) なんだ。だからMAT は DESTRAGE のビデオのリンクを貼って RON にメールを送ったのさ。ゲストソロを新作で弾いてくれませんか？ってね。BUMBLEFOOT は僕達の音楽を本当に気に入ってくれて YES! って返事をくれたんだ。彼は当時 GUNS’N’ROSES でツアーに出ていたんだけどツアーが終わるまで待ってくれと言ってくれたよ。そして家に帰ると彼はこの素晴らしいソロを録音して送ってくれたんだ。一番最初に聴いた時の事は完璧に覚えているよ。最THE高だったね。
Q5: Italy has been produced awesome Prog musics. Off course you have aspects prog rock. Why do you think Italy has lots of awesome prog bands?
【PAOLO】: I don’t know! but not only prog bands! the Metal scene here is growing so fast: Fleshgod Apocalypse, Upon This Dawning, Hour Of Penance, Modern Age Slavery, Ready Set Fall, Nero Di Marte all of them are huge Italian bands signed to great international labels. be sure to check them out!
Q5: イタリアはプログロックの産地です。もちろんあなた達の音楽にもプログの影響を感じますがなぜこんなに良質なプログバンドを輩出出来るのでしょう？
【PAOLO】:わからないよ！ただプログバンドだけじゃないよ！イタリアのメタルシーンは急速に成長しているんだ。FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, UPON THIS DAWNING, HOUR OF PENANCE, MODERN AGE SLAVELY, READY SET FALL, NERO DI MARTE・・・彼らは全てイタリアの大きなメタルバンドでインターナショナルなレーベルと契約しているよ。チェックしてみて。
